- To demonstrate the diversity of ethical dilemmas concerning social and health care work
- To train your capability to participate in ethical discussion

How to work?
2 A: Real life case description (length 1 page)
Recall and think back to some event or incident or case from the real working life and your own experience as an employee, an expert, a student or a manager of social and health care services. The incident or case should be somehow interesting and challenging from the ethical point of view and it should be a real "dilemma".
Before deciding what would be your case read carefully the article by Karen Allen "What is an ethical dilemma" to make sure your case contains an ethical dilemma.
Karen Allen say’s, that for ethical dilemma there are three conditions that must be present.
1. An individual (manager or employee) must make a decision about which course of action is best.
2.There must be different courses of action to choose from.
3. No matter what course of action is taken, some ethical principle (which one, or ones?) is compromised. In other words, there is no perfect solution
Write a short case description (1 page): what happened, what was it about, what kind of episodes there was, who was involved, how did it all end, etc.
Describe especially what was the ethical dilemma (3 conditions that were present [see Karen Allen]) in your case! What were the possible options?
You don't have to tell real names, places etc. And you don't even have to tell your own position or role, if you don't want to.
2 B: Reflective essay about your real life case (lenght 3 pages)
Write a reflective essay and contemplate the insident or case from the ethical point of view. As a one basis for your reflective thinking you can use the ethical codes and guidelines of different professions and management. (see Additional materials.)
In the right margin there are some articles you should read and use as a source.
In your essay you should reflect at least the following questions:
- what kind of strategies were used for handling the situation?
- what kind of ethical tensions or conflicts or questions there was?
- what kind of ethical choises or decisions were made?
- who made them, how they were made?
- evaluate the situation and the outcome from the perspective of the client/patient, employee, employer, yourself etc.
- what was your reaction or attitude at the time of the incident, what do you think about the incident now?
- and last but not least: what did you learn?
ANSWER:
HOW OUR MANAGING DIRECTOR WAS KEEPING HIS PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND KEPT THE COMPANY ALIVE BESIDES HAVING MANY CRYSIS OF INVESTMENT
